Jim GlangJim is a dynamic speaker whose presentations in the United States and Europe highlight coffee seminars and conferences. He has served on the SCAAšs Board of Directors, and in 1997 was chosen by the SCAA to receive the "Special Recognition" award. He is a founding member of the Training Committee, and co-authored the now famous "Espresso Lab" taught throughout the U.S. by the SCAA. He is the president and founder of Crossroads Espresso, and since 1981, has helped 10,000 customers integrate Espresso into their new operation.
Sherri Johns Sherri was instrumental in introducing and developing the current Barista Championship format and co-authored judging criteria and rules and regulations for both in the US and for the World Barista Championships. In 2004/5, she was one of three Judges Certification Committee members to write, define and facilitate the WBC Judges training and certifications for the World Barista Championship. She coordinated the 2002 NABC in California USA & 2003 USBC, WBC in Boston, Miami at the SCAA Conference, provided judges training in Trieste, Boston and Seattle. Mrs. Johns is both USBC and WBC certified judge. Co-founder of the USBC Committee within the SCAA in 2004.
Sherri is an astute coffee cupper as noted by her placement as Head Judge for the esteemed Cup of Excellence program. As assistant to George Howell in Brazil 2003, then Head Judge for 2005 - 2006 Cup of Excellence programs in Honduras, Colombia and El Salvador. Sherri Johns volunteers with Coffee Corps, US Aid and SCAA. Past member of the SCAA Training Committee, founder of US Barista Championship Committee, past SCAA Board Member, World Barista Championship Judges Coordinator for the Americas and Espresso and Cupping Labs and lecturer at international conferences. Sherri and her husband Danny are partners in WholeCup Coffee Consulting located in Portland, Oregon, USA, specializing in international barista training, specialty retail concept development and producing coffee special events including competitions and barista jams for the industry, other trades and consumers. Thus far, they have been to more than 20 countries to provide specialty coffee services.
Andrew Hetzel Mr. Hetzel resides in Hawaii where he is the director and founder of Cafemakers, a business consultancy dedicated to the specialty coffee industry. In addition to officiating competitions for the Ultimate Barista Challenge organization and others, Mr. Hetzel is an elected member of the Specialty Coffee Association of America's training committee and a writer for coffee trade publications including Tea & Coffee Trade Journal and FG! CoffeeTalk Magazine. In 2007, Mr. Hetzel was named one of the top young business leaders in the State of Hawaii by Pacific Business News. More information is available at www.cafemakers.com.
